It’s a real shame that Jacques Chirac didn’t speak out at the time about Bush’s telephone conversation invoking fanatical Old Testament prophecy. Retropolitics makes the point that “it’s only strange/shocking/unbelievable if you haven’t been paying any attention” but the truth is that I never saw any mention of this level of dementia/paranoia in the press outside of the US. I’m far more concerned about the apparent inference that people within the US new about this and yet did nothing.
