A Brit Abroad

My name is Terry and I'm a 50 something year old dis-enchanted ex-pat Brit living in Cyprus. Why am I dis-enchanted? You'll find reasons enough throughout my tumble log, along with quirky items that amused me and things I think need highlighting, and occasional quotes from some of my favourite novels. Oh, and maybe some original work of my own.

I’m sorry, White People. The plight of Iranians is not some bumper sticker twitter campaign. They can save themselves. They’ve saved themselves many times- first from the Shah, now from this opressive regime. Solidarity is one thing, but turning their struggles into little buzz trademark words is insulting. Especially when Iran is light years ahead in progress than other countries. Save your PITY, please. Iranians are strong.

I agree. Actions speak louder than words. Support them with information, tools, signs of active concern.

I’ve been saying for the past couple of weeks now that this is an ancient civilization with plenty of experience in sorting out it’s own problems. It doesn’t need help from a jumped up little upstart empire still wet behind the ears or an ageing infirm has been nation still trying to come to terms with it’s own demise.
