It’s a crime how little direct reporting we get when our money and bombs are destroying so many lives abroad.
But I guess as long as they don’t look anything like me or my three sterling white children… who the hell cares?
Fuck.
This is why I tell the Palestinian story. Why I like to point out that the West Bank settlements are illegal, or that in Gaza, Palestinians have been held captive, with no way out of the area, and with little food, medicine or other supplies being allowed in. Americans don’t know this. They don’t know that hundreds of Palestinians in Gaza are dead, that Gaza is a tiny place with far too many people for such a small area, that there are no bomb shelters and few safe places for people in Gaza to go to escape bombings. They don’t know that Israel delivered such brutal retaliation for half a dozen lives lost.
It’s frustrating to know that so many are so ill informed on the issue. That does not include everyone, obviously, but for the vast majority of Americans, the information they receive is one-sided and incredibly lacking in context or detail. So I’ll keep talking about what I know, if for no other reason than to combat the painful ignorance on the topic that is so pervasive among Americans who have, at minimum, a $2 billion annual stake in this conflict.
Keep keep on talking about it because when the next 9/11 hits the US, people need to remember the $2B assistance that Israel used to fund this atrocity and ask yourselves if it was worth it.
